Sleeve gastrectomy involves permanently removing approximately two-thirds of the stomach to limit food intake—helping you feel full sooner. This procedure is newly recognized as a primary procedure for weight loss.

Sleeve Gastrectomy

The Roux-en-Y gastric bypass is considered the gold standard of weight-loss surgery available today. You will typically lose 60-70 percent of your excess weight during the first year after gastric bypass surgery.

A duodenal switch is the most powerful modern bariatric surgery that we have to date. Some patients who had bariatric surgery in the early days of the procedure develop problems and require further care. Our team has performed over 1,000 revisional bariatric procedures, which offer long-term success.

Single Anastomosis Duodeno-Ileal bypass with Sleeve Gastrectomy (SADi-S)

This newer procedure consists of a sleeve gastrectomy and a bypass of some of the small intestine with a connection between the duodenum and the small intestine. SADi-S is an effective procedure for weight loss and resolution of co-morbidities like type 2 diabetes and sleep apnea. SADi-S is an option for both a primary and a revisional procedure.

As the field of bariatric surgery has evolved, surgical techniques and technology have become more refined. Some patients who had bariatric surgery in the early days of the procedure develop problems and require further care. Our team has performed over 1,000 revisional bariatric procedures, which offer long-term success.

Weight Loss Surgery

A Personalized Approach to Changing Lives

Emerson Health’s renowned bariatric surgery team delivers the safest and most effective care with compassion. From your first appointment, through surgery and beyond, we are your partner on a path to lifetime success. Obesity is a disease and a primary cause for many medical problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure, various cancers, and more. Many of these conditions can be reduced, prevented or eliminated through weight loss.

Emerson’s Center for Weight Loss

Our Program Offers

  • A personal approach. Obesity is NOT your fault. It is a disease. Most of our patients have tried many times to lose weight unsuccessfully on their own with traditional diet and exercise. This is not a sign of personal failure but the resistance of a person’s metabolism to allow weight loss. We aim to stop the cycle of repeated dieting and improve your self-esteem, quality of life, and overall health.
  • A highly-qualified team that includes board-certified surgeons with decades of experience, dietitians, mental health practitioners, physician assistants, and front desk staff who take time to get to know you as a person and support your weight-loss journey. Our team performs more weight loss procedures than any program in New England.
  • Expert care, 24/7. We are here 24/7 to help you through every phase of your journey and celebrate with you when you reach key milestones.
  • Minimally-invasive surgical options including the latest approaches with gastric bypass, gastric banding, and sleeve gastrectomy – all of which are safe with outstanding results.
  • Peace of mind that comes with choosing the highest-quality team, designated by the American College of Surgeons as an Accredited Comprehensive Bariatric Center
  • A proven, long-term solution to obesity by addressing its root causes, unlike medical weight loss drugs, which often require lifelong use to maintain results. With surgery, you can achieve sustainable weight loss and improved health without relying on medication.
